I shut my eyes. He didn’t get it. I don’t know why I was so disappointed. Of course he didn’t. He was a natural-born alpha in the prime of his life. Shifting was as natural to him as breathing. As if he could hear my thoughts, he flipped me round in his arms so fast I lost my stomach to stare intently into my eyes. He cupped my cheeks in his calloused, honest hands.
